30 Adoptable Dogs and Cats from Cincinnati Animal CARE Who Need Homes (2024)

Cincinnati Animal CARE recently shared on social media that they are in desperate need of humans to take home some of their adorable animals. As of last week, the shelter had taken in 531 animals in the last 30 days and we'd like to show you just a small selection of these furry friends.

Animal CARE has also shared on social media that due to this high volume of pets they are running low on some supplies. They are asking anyone who can to buy things off their Amazon or Chewy wishlists or stop by in person to drop off hotdogs and blocks of cheese.

If you are interested in any of these pets or seeing what else they have to offer contact Cincinnati Animal CARE| 513-541-7387, cincinnatianimalcare.org.

*Some pets in the slideshow may have pending adoptions. Please contact the rescues for more info.

Theo

Age: 4 years Old / Breed:Terrier, American Pit Bull/Mix / Sex: Male
“Theo is one good-looking dog! Theo thrives in a calm environment, so a household without a lot of visitors would be ideal — though Theo isn't against meeting new people. He has done great here at the shelter as an office dog and with the walk team, you'll just need to go at Theo's pace which is nice and slow until you win this happy and affectionate boy over!”

He is eager to learn and wants to please. Grinch does well with other dogs and cats even! Come down and meet him!"

Mandalorian

Age: 3 years old / Breed: Terrier/Mix / Sex: Male
"Mandalorian, or Mando as his friends call him, is a very sweet and special boy. He is much smaller than his giant ears would lead you to believe and has the softest fur this side of the Ohio River. He is crate trained, quiet, does well left on his own, and doesn't have accidents in the house! He did very well living with his foster's dogs. This boy needs someone who will go slow with him, earn his trust, and keep working on his manners. In return, you'll get some of the best cuddles and a super cute friend for life. Mandalorian would do best in a calm home without kids."

Tobias

Age: 2 years old / Breed: Shepherd/Retriever / Sex: Male
“Tobias loves to play and absolutely loves toys! He is even learning more and more how to share his toys with the resident dogs in his foster home. He loves playing outside in the yard, lots of zoomies happening. He has also taken a liking to the shower. He does great in the car and is so calm. He walks well but gets a little excited but is learning. He loves walks. He has lots of energy so he loves all of the active things. However at the end of the day he very much enjoys cuddling up on the couch with his people. Tobias is a very loving dog.”

Yankee

Age: 10 years old / Breed: Domestic Shorthair/Mix / Sex: Female
“Meet Yankee. This girl is a bit on the older side but still has a lot of spunk and life left in her! She does take a minute to warm up to new people- her lifelong owner had to go into an assisted living home and couldn't take Yankee with her, that's a lot of change for a small kitty! But Yankee is ready for a new adventure and to be treated like a queen again!”

Sersi

Age: 3 years old / Breed: Domestic Medium Hair/Mix / Sex: Female
“Meet Sersi! This friendly, petite 3-year-old girl is just a dream cat. She is a half short-hair, half floof which makes her SO SOFT! She loves cuddling, purring, sitting on laps and getting lots of pets. Sersi is very happy when she is getting brushed, groomed, and generally doted on. She loves to eat wet food and uses the litter box perfectly. She likes to play and use her scratching pad, but she is most content when she is sitting like a little queen atop her blanket! If you are looking for a floofy, friendly, cuddle bug then Sersi is the girl for you!”

Aphid

Age: 10 years old / Breed: Domestic Longhair/Mix/ Sex: Male
“Aphid is the perfect companion cat. He is shy and needs some time to adjust. But once he feels more comfortable, he enjoys watching you and relaxing next to you but just out of reach. Other parts of the days he chills in a more quiet area of the room. He doesn't really like to be touched still and will let you know with a little hiss, but leaves it at that.”

Akira

Age: 10 years old / Breed: Domestic Shorthair/Mix / Sex: Female
“Meet Akira! This adorable senior girl is learning how to be a cat again in her foster home. She is a little bit of a scaredy cat and would love a quiet and patient home to gain some confidence in! In her foster home now, she love pets and rubbing up on her foster mamas legs. This girl is going to be a great independent kitty — so apply to meet her today!”

Kung Fu Panda

Age: 2 years old / Breed: Border Collie/Mix / Sex: Male
“Meet Kung Fu Panda! Kung Fu Panda is straight up adorable! He loves to play with toys and would thrive in an active home with no small animals. Kung Fu Panda can be a little nervous in new environments, but he warms up quickly. He is crate-trained, and his crate is his "safe place". He'd love a fenced yard to run around in and larger dog siblings to play with! Kung Fu is house-trained and is very receptive to learning new things — he's a smart boy!”

Irene

Age: 4 years old / Breed: Domestic Shorthair/Mix / Sex: Female
“Irene is a cat who knows what she wants and will let you know it. Like fine art, you can look but shouldn't touch! While she does like the occasional head scratches (and will purr louder than a car engine) she doesn't like being picked up. She is a beautiful sweetheart who needs someone to give her time for her to open up. Her favorite snack is Temptations treats. Irene also adores cardboard scratch pads. Irene can be skittish at times so a quieter home would be great, but she is content sitting under your coffee table and watching TV with you. She also would prefer to be the only cat in the home.”

Brutus

Age: 3 years old / Breed: Terrier, American Pit Bull/Mix / Sex: Male
“Brutus is the absolute sweetest, cuddliest couch potato and wants to be your best friend! He is potty trained, knows basic tricks (and loves to perform them) and walks well on a leash. He loves being close to his humans and is more than content to take a nice long walk, curl up on the couch with you (usually with his head in your lap) and nap. He doesn't quite know how to play with toys, and the concept of "fetch" is lost on him, but he frequently gets the zoomies and loves to race around the living room.”

Ella

Age: 15 years old / Breed: Domestic Shorthair/Mix / Sex: Female
“Ella is sweet as pie, but can be a little timid when she first meets you. Once she realizes you're a friend and not a foe, she will lean in for head rubs and even rest her head in your hand. She's also got the BIGGEST purrr. This special lady deserves a quiet, loving home and lots of cheek scritches.”

“Are you looking for an adventure buddy to go on hikes with and enjoy long walks and new adventures? Quentin is most definitely your guy then! Take him on a hike and he'll be ready to go for miles. He's fearless and curious which makes a fun adventure buddy! Quentin is amazing in the car where he is content to just enjoy laying in the backseat and watch the world go by from his window.”

Conundrum

Age: 11 years old / Breed: Domestic Shorthair/Mix / Sex: Female
“Conundrum’s favorite time of day is first thing in the morning when she gets her breakfast. She will eat it throughout the day but that first pour is her favorite! She also enjoys nice pets and cuddles right after she gets her belly full.”

Spirit

Age: 4 years old / Breed: Terrier, American Pit Bull/Mix / Sex: Male
“I am Spirit. I have been at the shelter for almost a year. Despite that, I am as sweet as they come. I love to hang out with my family and friends. I am very easy going. You want to go for a short walk? I don't mind a stroll. You want to walk a couple miles? I like that as well. You want to run? Okay but don't forget to stretch :). You want to lay on the couch for a couple of hours and rest? That sounds perfect to me. I am very loyal. I love to give and get hugs and I get along great with the kids in my foster house. I am house broken (zero accidents in my time as a foster), and I do not mind sleeping in. I do not get into your food, and I am careful in new environments.”

El Chapa

Age: 3 years old / Breed: Domestic Medium Hair/Mix / Sex: Female
“El Chapa is a very sweet and beautiful cat waiting for her forever home. She's a cat that loves her personal space until you bring her food out and then wants nothing but her food and lovins. She nudges your hand for more scratches and it's very endearing. Her previous foster stated that once she befriended El Chapa, she never left her side! Snuggle time is her favorite time of day!”
