Love never fails ...
Wednesday Bible Blurb “Love” 7 24 2024
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I havethe gift ofprophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith,so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.Andthough I bestow all my goods to feedthe poor, and though I give my bodyto be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
Love suffers longandiskind; lovedoes not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;does not rejoice in iniquity, butrejoices in the truth;bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails. But whetherthere areprophecies, they will fail; whetherthere aretongues, they will cease; whetherthere isknowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which isperfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.Fornow we see in a mirror, dimly, but thenface to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of theseislove.” (I Cor. 13 [NKJV]).
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35).
“This is Mycommandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.” (John 15:12-14).
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begottenSon, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).
Stop! Go back and re-read these verses slowly, pausing to think (meditate) at the end of each sentence. Have we followed God’s lead in loving others? Without love, nothing else matters. Man sinned (Lack of love) and God gave us His Son to die and be our atonement, to take away our sins (God full of love). Nothing else matters but showing love-unselfish outgoing concern to others.
Galatians 5:22 shows us the very first fruit of the Spirit is “love.” The apostle John, late in his life says, “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, andhe who abides in love abides in God, and Godin him.” (I John 4:16).
The greatest of all gifts is love. Let us show love to all we have contact with.
